Piper's Finished Nursery

I have had a few of you, who are going to be having little girls, ask me for pictures of my nursery. And I realized that I never posted finished pictures of it! So, here it is finally, and I really like how it turned out. I can't paint the walls because we are renting, so I wanted just lots of injections of color everywhere. It is a happy bright fun space. Sorry, not the best pictures...I was in a hurry.

So- I am gonna give you the break down of everything and where I got it. I LOVE LOVE this dresser...my favorite piece in the whole room. I found it on KSL a few years back and it is just a SOLID good piece of furniture. Painted it this apple green color and painted out the hardware white. Such a great modern piece now after it's been painted. PLUS it has SO MUCH storage. There are 9 drawers and it can hold all her stuff! I just threw a changing pad with some non-slip backing on the bottom and it turns it into a changing table. I made the vinyl of her name...wanted something simple and modern. and I made the pictures in Photoshop. A pear and apple with birds inside...I like that all the pictures are BIG and make a bold statement.
The chair I have had forever all the way back to Mckay, not my favorite, but I don't have the money to get a new one. SOOOO I made pillows for it and got a green throw from Ikea for $4. The Owl on the Grey pillow is so cute and is an applique from Joannes. I got the lamp from the DI for $2 and painted the shade. And I got the table from the DI for $3 and painted it gray. I also LOVE the numbers picture. I printed all the pictures out and got some cheap frames from Ikea (only $4 a piece) and painted them white. I am all about having no money and trying to make it cute anyways...you just have to see the potential in stuff....like that awesome dresser :) The pink rug I got on clearance at Target for only $8 and it matches perfect and was BIG.

The Crib is Ikea. Only $100. I like it cause it is low and modern. I made the bed skirt with Micheal Miller's cute pear and apple fabric. She has 2 cute little sock monkeys in her bed you can't see. I LOVE sock monkeys. The hanging lanterns are Ikea and only like $4 a piece. They have lots of different colors and sizes. I just hung them with clear fish wire at different lengths.
I made the curtain valance from Ikea fabric and then bench is from there too. Which, I have had forever and just sprayed white and then covered it with foam and that pink fabric. I made the pillows and the cute hippo is from Ikea. Can you tell I love that store. hehe. They have tons of cute stuffed animals for way cheap. The bench is usually filled with blankets and formula and toys...but they are all in bins so it doesn't look cluttered. I am all about things looking clean and not cluttered.

So, there it is. It was a lot of work and a LOT of fun...yes there are a few things I would change if I had more money, BUT I think for being on a tight budget I got a look that I love!

p.s. Here are some close ups of her nursery from another post.... http://ckhowefamily.blogspot.com/2009/09/sneak-peek.html

So cute! You really have a knack for decorating on a budget. Wish I could be the same way. Actually, I wish there was even a purpose to decorate...unfortunately, our baby #3 is sleeping in the big closet under the stairs. It just doesn't seem worth it to decorate very much :(
